Mary Blair

At the moment I am kind of reading The Art and Flair of Mary Blair, the pictures are much smaller than I would prefer and a little darker. And I was hoping there would be some more pictures of the murals of 'Its a Small World' in Disneyland.
You can see more of her Disney murals here.
I love the girl with jug picture at the top.

Pioneers of Modern Art - Sandberg

There are various types of different stock throughput the book which the images are printed on. I liked the black images on the brown kraft paper.

Eskimo Prints - James A. Houston

I was browsing in the library the other day and came across this book - Eskimo Prints by James A Houston.
In the late 1950's he was in Cape Dorset and one of the locals was sat next to him studying his tow packets of identical cigarettes and he said that he thought it must be hard work to sit and paint the same design on endless packets of cigarettes!
So then the explanation of printing began and many people wanted to try out prinitng for themselves.
I find it really interesting how some of these images remind me of other movements that were going on at the same time in the southern world.....

Sally and Billy Look at Ships - Alain Gree

Stig Lindberg - book

So it seems I have had a bit of a Stig Lindberg obsession in the past few days.
Thought I would share with you some of the pages, the colors are really fun and retro and the story is totally wacky.
