I got this book out from the library the other day only because I liked the cover, I tried and tried to read it but I just couldn't get into it but I did enjoy looking at the delightful cover on by bedside table for a few nights! It's by Alvin Lustig who we have posted about here before.

I have read this book twice. It's wonderful - tricky to start with but then very beautiful.
Maybe you should try the film first.
There are 2 incarnations of it 1967 and 2006
under the title of 'Le Grand Meaulnes"
It's a book that all teenagers were reading when it was first out in translation from the French in the '60's.
